Pearl Harbor star Ben Affleck is rumoured to be on the verge of becoming a dad after girlfriend Jennifer Garner was spotted sporting a bulge.

Reports in Star magazine suggest that snaps of the Alias star looking bigger than usual have sparked a flurry of rumours that the two are set to become parents.

The actress has been seeing the lantern-jawed Armageddon star since the summer, with the pregnancy rumours gathering momentum after she covered up when further photos were sought.

So far no comment has been made, but quotes taken from nutritional biochemist Dr Shawn Talbott purport to identify the telltale signs of motherhood.

"It really does look like Jen is pregnant. Where she seems to be gaining weight - lower belly and hips - is a typical change in shape for a young, fit, pregnant woman," he commented.

"Jen could have started early eating for the holidays but I think she looks more like she has a baby on the way!"

Affleck has had a number of high profile relationships, most famously with Latino singer Jennifer Lopez.
