Adele has dominated Brit Awards 2016 taking home four major awards: best British female solo artist, best album, best British single and the Global Success award.
She said: “To come back after so long away and be so warmly received means so much.”
Adele closed the show with her performance of When We Were Young. The show also featured an emotional tribute to David Bowie, led by Annie Lennox and his friend Gary Oldman, who accepted a Brits icon award on behalf of the singer and his family. He said: "David you were mortal, but your potential was superhuman and your music lives on".
Coldplay, who won best British group, opened the ceremony with their colourful, floral performance of their single Hymn For The Weekend. The band now has nine trophies, making them the most successful band in the ceremony’s history.
Other winners include James Bay who took home best male and Australian psych-rock band Tame Impala who won the best international group. Justin Bieber, on the other hand, won best international male.
"Man, I'm shaking right now," he said as he took the stage.
"Life is a journey," he added. "Everyone has their ups and downs."
