Hayley Tamaddon has been crowned the winner of this year's Dancing on Ice.

After six months of gruelling training, spending close to 600 hours on the ice, the three remaining celebrities, Gary Lucy, Kieron Richardson and Hayley Tamaddon, battled it out in the final.

Each performing two routines, including flying moves and their favourite performance, the celebrities were then opened up to the public vote to decide.

Richardson was the first celebrity to be knocked out, missing out on the chance to perform the Bolero.

However, the 'Hollyoaks' actor went out on a high, receiving his personal best score with 24 out of 30 for his routine to Elbow's 'One Day Like This'.

On leaving the competition, he said: "I have had the best experience of my life."

Tough judge Jason Gardiner remarked of his performance: "Surprisingly I was expecting to hate this but I didn't. I think there were moments particularly off the ice you were great and ultimately your presentation has improved."

Described as one of the best ever dances from all five series, former Emmerdale actress Tamaddon and her professional partner Daniel Whiston again wowed judges with their 'Slumdog Millionaire' routine to 'Jai Ho'.

The couple were awarded top marks and judge Robin Cousins said it was even an improvement on the first performance of the high energy routine which also earned 30 out of 30.

"It was better than a few weeks ago," Cousins said. "It was tighter and maybe because it's the final you were more focussed, but the arms and the timing were absolutely flawless."

Panellist Karen Barber agreed: "The clarity of your movements are amazing."

Making it through to the final two, from the 14 hopeful celebrities when the show began in January, Tamaddon and Lucy danced to the infamous Torvil and Dean-inspired 'Bolero'.

But it was bookie favourite Tamaddon who took the ice skating crown.

"You look like you're in your own world on the ice," Chris told them earlier. "And that's exactly how we felt when we skated the Bolero."

Hayley joins the likes of Kyran Bracken and Suzanne Shaw in the winners' Hall of Fame. It is Whiston's second victory on the ITV show.
