Actor Dennis Hopper has been granted a restraining order against his estranged wife.

The action is alledgedly under the advice of his doctor.

Hopper's physician, Dr David Agus, allegedly said that it is his "belief and recommendation that the less Mr. Hopper has to do with his estranged wife at his time, the more likely he is to have his life extended".

Hopper who is recovering from prostate cancer, recently filed for divorce from his wife Victoria.

According to reports from E! News, a judge has granted the order after Hopper claimed that his wife is preventing his recovery.

Hopper has also allegedly described his former wife as "inhuman", "extremely volatile" and "insane and out of her mind".

Under the legal order, Victoria Hopper is banned from coming within 10 feet of her husband, his adult children or his assistant.
