A Mistletoe Revival?

Mistletoe kisses are dying out with only 14% shared a Christmas kiss last year.

A recent survey has revealed that kissing under the mistletoe is slowly dying out. It says that 71per cent of under 35s have never tried it while only 14per cent of us shared a Christmas kiss last year.

 

The survey also revealed that the most appropriate sites for Christmas kiss are the pub (11per cent), Christmas parties (10per cent), and the office (5per cent).

 

Although men are more likely to initiate a Christmas kiss, 20per cent of them have crippling fear of rejection while 17per cent are put off by public display of affection.

 

Meanwhile, many dream about sharing a kiss with a celebrity. On top of the list are Kelly Brook (11per cent), Jennifer Lawrence (8per cent), David Beckham (9per cent), and George Clooney (9per cent).

 

While kissing under a mistletoe is dying out, other Christmas traditions are still widely practiced. 74per cent still send Christmas cards and 61per cent ate a mince pie last year.

 

Donna Heywood, Mistletoe Buyer at Morrisons, said: “Kissing under the mistletoe is possibly the oldest Christmas tradition we have in Britain - it dates back over 2,000 years.

 

“It would be a shame to see it become a thing of past so we will be giving mistletoe to customers who look in need of a magical Christmas kiss.”
