50 Cent has become the first recording artist since The Beatles to have four records in the US Top Ten at the same time.

The rapper's hit 'Candy Shop' holds the top spot, with 'Disco Inferno' at number six.

Collaborations with his protégé The Game occupy number three and nine respectively.

The last time the US Billboard chart contained four hits by the same artist was in 1964, when the Beatles held all top five spots with 'Can't Buy Me Love', 'Twist and Shout', 'She Loves You', 'I Want To Hold Your Hand', and 'Please Please Me'.

50's album - titled 'The Massacre' - is also number one in the US album chart.

But Billboard chart editor Geoff Mayfield was quick to deflate comparisons between the New York rapper and the Fab Four.

He said: "It's always dangerous to compare anything to The Beatles, since they hold such a singular place in music history."

Despite their collaboration, 50 Cent was recently involved in a feud with his former protégé The Game which led to a shooting at a radio station.

Their row ended when the two stars announced a truce at a charity event.
