2012 International Emmys: British shows get seven nominations

Special awards will also be given to chosen British shows at International Emmys...

British television productions received a total of seven International Emmy nominations on Monday, including best actor nod for Jason Isaacs for his role as private detective Jackson Brodie in ‘Case Histories’.

 

Newcomer Joanna Vanderham was also nominated for best actress for her debut TV role in ‘The Runaway’, where she plays a young girl growing up on the streets of London in the 1960s and 1970s. 

 

Other nominations include Sky 1’s ‘Spy’ and ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ for best comedy, ‘Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die’ for best documentary, ‘Days of Our Lives’ for arts and programming, and ‘Black Mirror’ for best TV mini-series. 

 

Aside from the seven nominations that puts British programs on top, several special awards will also be given out. According to a report by the BBC, recipients will include Ryan Murphy the creator of ‘Glee’. He is expected to receive the honorary 2012 International Emmy Founders Award. 

 

For the first International Emmy Kids Awards, CBeebies show ‘Octonauts’ and a Newsround special – ‘My Autism and Me’ are nominated. The same is true for BBC One drama ‘Lost Christmas’ and Cartoon Network animation, ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’.
